These 4 courses can be taken to satisfy specific modules for BCIA and do not constitute the entire BCIA didactic requirements.
Ethics (ethical considerations for neurotherapists)
Neuroanatomy and Physiology (basic neuronal actions, lobe descriptions, and deeper and subcortical understanding)
Research and Efficacy (research findings and efficacy standards)
Psychopharmacology (how drugs affect the EEG)
Instructor:

Cynthia Kerson, 2(PhD), QEEGD, BCN Senior Fellow, BCB, BCB-HRV Cynthia Kerson is the founder, COO, and director of education for APEd. She maintained a neurofeedback practice in the San Francisco area where she specialized in neurofeedback training for learning disabilities, pain, depression and anxiety for 20 years. She serves on the Board of the Foundation for Neurofeedback and Neuromodulation Research (FNNR), Behavioral Medicine Research and Training Foundation (BMRTF) and Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) and has had many other leadership roles in the field.
Dr. Kerson has published several papers and articles, and co-edited the Alpha Theta Handbook (2016). She is a mentor for BCIA and QEEGCB. She frequently presents at meetings on neurofeedback and the research projects of the FNNR. In addition to her more academic pursuits, she frequently consults with the media, contributing her expertise to television, including serving as the ‘EEG expert’ for the popular program MythBusters

ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT:
This module provides the 2 hours of learning necessary for ethics and professional conduct, covering ethical and legal practice, clinical practice, the scope of practice, client rights, supervision, and professional relationships.


NEUROANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY:
This module provides the 4 hours of learning necessary for neuroanatomy and physiology, covering neurophysiology and functional neuroanatomy., 


RESEARCH AND EFFICACY:
This module provides the 2 hours of learning necessary for the research evidence base, covering interpretation of methodology and key research studies. 


PHARMACOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
This module provides 2 hours of psychopharmacological considerations, covering potential effects on clinical presentation, EEG measures and assessment and training.
